I was one of the political activists from decades ago who feels lied to. I was told that renewable were essentially free energy and costs would go down. That our nem could handle it. All lies. Now I'm a big believer in nuclear but the infrastructure we're building, at huge cost to every Australian, will make future nuclear plants unviable as we're building for a bits and pieces future. This govt, likely to be in power for a decade is going to go down as killing Australia's economic viability for generations.
Funny how Bill Gates has had a sudden change of heart about ‘Climate Change’ just as his personal interest in energising the AI boom has dramatically increased 🤔 While I agree with his conversion and desire to distance himself from the CC cult, I am skeptical of his rationale and increasingly disgusted by his narcissistic self-interest. The Emperor has no clothes, and it’s not a pretty sight.

I watched the smart arse answer to a question from the opposition yesterday and was struck by just how little respect Labor has for the people. Albanese cannot answer the simplest question. It would help if the opposition had have leaped back in with facts and figures. Now they want to force energy companies to give us three hours of free power asking as we do everything in the middle of the day! Just stupid!
First, there is no tipping point that brings on runaway warming.
Second, the tipping point to worry about is the point that we have reached when there is barely enough coal power to get through windless nights. Deindustrialisation has so far saved us from runaway blackouts, but we will soon have to retire another tranche of smelters.
Adoption of a sensible Energy Policy that’s market driven, fair to all concerned (including the Unreliables), is technology agnostic, exclusive of anti-competitive subsidies, invites all power generators to bid (per AEMO auction, a month in advance) their best price for xx GWs of power certain in accord with well established AEMO QOS performance standards together with substantial $penalties for failure to meet those QOS performance criteria, would resolve this madness virtually overnight.
Re electricity supply in Australia. Blame the Australian government and politicians for accepting and supporting Net Zero power. All statistics show that it is not a viable option but this is typical reasoning from governments and most politicians, accept and encourage what has been proven to be a non entity. Let common sense go down the drain. The politicians and government don't have to pay their power bill. The Australian taxpayer does it for them.

‘The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has implemented new IT systems—including a rebuilt, cloud-based platform for CPI compilation—to support more frequent and comprehensive price data collection (starting April 2024). This enables the production of a complete Monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) as Australia’s primary measure of headline inflation, starting with the October 2025 reference month (released on 26 November 2025). The monthly CPI will supersede the prior quarterly CPI system by providing timely, internationally comparable data with 87% of the CPI basket priced monthly (up from about 50% in the previous monthly indicator).
While a derived quarterly CPI series will continue for specific uses (e.g., indexation), the monthly version becomes the standard for reporting inflation movements.’
Unfortunately, it will probably take a failure like they had in Spain for people to wake up & see or understand the very real problem that has been created with this Net Zero religion. I find it totally ironic that all these lemmings are rushing over a cliff believing they can change the weather/environment in every other part of the world by not turning on a kettle unless the sun is up or the wind is blowing.
People are starting to listen, although my real term is energy harvesting.
I hope this helps people better understand that solar and wind performance is more like farming, really profitable when it works and a disaster the rest of the time. Again the reasons are hidden in complex financial instruments.
As was remarked by someone else, the quickest way to turn a fortune into nothing is to buy a boat or a farm. Soon we will be including wind and solar.
