This is a devastating, well-founded synthesis of the facts about actual and foreseeable global warming. It shows that not only is the Albanese Government totally captive to hysteria about dangerous anthropogenic global warming, it is in the thrall of carpetbaggers flogging myths about unreliable ‘green’ energy sources.
What is in a way more worrying is that it shows the utter corruption of Australian institutions, almost all of which are complicit in the grotesque distortions Chris analyses. The roll of dishonour includes the CSIRO, the Treasury, the Productivity Commission, the AEMO and the entire alphabet soup of ‘climate change’ institutions.
With the advent of the automobile and the growth of urban areas the proportion of the area devoted to heat absorbing bitumen, tiles, brick and concrete increased at the expense of transpiring leaves that cool the air. Viola, At Observatory Hill in central Sydney temperatures rose by 3C while on the outskirts of the city where the natural vegetation is untouched there has been no increase in temperature at all, as long as we stick to the unadjusted record. We are not dealing with science informed by observation. The CSIRO, BOM and our political parties have been captured by religious fanatics.
Wind power was never going to work but the meteorologists didn’t issue wind drought warnings and the wind farmers didn’t check the reliability of the wind supply in the way that prudent dirt farmers check the water supply.
Due to the combined effect of wind droughts and lack of feasible grid-scale storage the wind and solar powered grid is not fit for purpose and fiddling will not help any more than improving the power and efficiency of steam engines will make them fit for space travel.
So get wind and solar off the grid and get moving with conventional power, especially coal. Nuclear is dandy but in the short term coal is quicker!
Dethroning the climate emperor is looking like shooting the proverbial fish in a barrel. A deeper quandary: why the gullibility of the many people who continue to believe both the climate change hypothesis and the patently unrealistic proposals to mitigate its alleged impacts? The failed predictions of the hypothesis escalate almost daily. And the mirage of ‘actions’ is comic. Has no one noticed the energy bills failed to decrease as promised? Most incredibly, the actions are largely paid for up front by consumers because of mandated ‘renewable’ energy targets. Thus, the risk of these investments is transferred to the hapless user, and the capital markets are guaranteed a return on their investment irrespective of the new technology’s success. The user, by contrast, is stuck with the bill regardless of success or failure. I cannot think of a comparable ruse in history. The revolt, and payback, when they eventually come will surely be vicious.
Well summarized Chris. Surprise, surprise. What a relief. We're not on the way to 'Hell in a hand basket'' ClimateWise after all.
Rather, the Grifters & Carpetbaggers are having a field day at taxpayers expense, pretending to solve a non-problem ie CO2, that minuscule, invisible, colourless, tasteless, odourless atmospheric trace gas necessary for life on planet Earth that's captured the imagination of the gullible.
So, where to now? What's the 'final solution' as it were to this madness?
Politicians got us into this mess. They now need to find a way to back out of the fearmongering that they've embraced - fearmongering that's essentially come to nought. There is no climate emergency. Our climate's doing what it's always done & changed with the seasons & will continue to do so, ad infinitum.
If nothing else Barnaby Joyce, Nationals MP for New England has had the good grace to stand up a admit recently that he'd 'got it wrong'. A little more common sense by his counterparts along similar lines together with, I suggest, adoption of a sensible Energy Policy would bring this madness to an end sooner rather than later.
A sensible Energy Policy that's fair to all concerned, including the unreliables (of wind & solar-PVs) along the following lines...
Electricity is a fundamental service, vital to the functioning of Australia & indeed, any other first-world democracy. An effective energy policy must be affordable, reliable & consistently available 24/7. It should be straightforward & market driven. Designed with the consumer’s interests as the central focus, rather than being shaped by the priorities of the power generation industry.
In the absence of empirical evidence proving the case against CO2 (there isn’t any), the key elements of such a sensible Energy Policy should be built upon the following principles;
• Technology Agnostic: The policy should not favour any specific technology. All sources – fossil fuels, hydro, solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, wave energy, batteries & nuclear – should be considered viable options.
• Elimination of Subsidies & Discriminatory Legislation: All subsidies & laws that advantage or disadvantage any particular technology must be removed/repealed. The market, through the independent choices of power generators, should determine which technologies are used. A level playing field that’s fair to all.
• Guaranteed Service Standards: Power generation contracts awarded via AEMO auction (eg; xx GWs/best $price contracted a month in advance), must ensure a guaranteed 99.998% supply in keeping with established Quality of Service (QOS) obligations as defined by the AEMO.
• Accountability Through Penalties: Power generators that fail to meet contractual & QOS obligations should face significant financial penalties, except in cases of force majeure due to natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods or bush fires.
• Environmental Restoration Bonds: Generators must pay a substantial upfront bond to cover the costs of environmental restoration, including the decommissioning & removing infrastructure & handling disposal or recycling (e.g., solar PV panels, wind turbine blades), similar to established practice within the mining industry by way of land restoration.
• Legislative Reform: Existing legislation – including the RET , LRET, SRES Safeguard Mechanism & the ban on nuclear power generation - must be repealed to create a truly level playing field.
If the power generating industry finds the principles associated with this proposed Energy Policy unpalatable, simply re-nationalize the industry & return it to whence it came i.e., the responsibility of respective State Govt’s.
Thanks for writing this. I'm glad I'm not alone is seeing the expensive folly of the Net Zero plan and it's ongoing, predictable and potentially catastrophic failure. As I learnt through the Covid years it can take a long while before people catch on and society corrects itseld. It would be quicker if the opposition had some fight and asked the right questions? Maybe they could offer to support but only once detailed costings are done, so voters can choose based on an informed price. At least that would start a debate.
The opposition is lead by a weak, hopeless Susan Ley who doesn't stand for anything. She hasn't even been endorsed by local party members for the last 2 elections, but deals to preselect her were done in Canberra. She couldn't even win any election booths in Albury, the biggest population center of the electorate. These booths were all won by an independent who had lots of Simon Homes A Courts money, just as all the other Teals did.

All a pretty devastating critique of popular delusions and the madness of crowds. Sea levels don't seem to have changed.
Thank you Chris for helping us understand this deception.
